Rotational grazing in this country — North Texas and southern Oklahoma

BlueStem is built on a working ranch near Gainesville, in Cooke County. We onboard named counties on both sides of the Red River because that is the grass the model is tuned to, and because Matt can still drive there for clip-and-weigh.

Counties we actually set up this season

Texas: Grayson, Cooke, Collin, Fannin, Denton, Wise. Oklahoma: Love, Marshall, Carter, Johnston, Murray, Garvin, Jefferson, McClain, Grady, Stephens. That list is the onboarding range, not a claim that every county in those states is identical, and not a claim that we run Alberta tomorrow.

Why the grass here is the point

North Texas and southern Oklahoma swing hard: wet springs, hot dry stretches, winter that still needs hay. Rotation that worked in May can be wrong in August. A tool trained on a different biome, or a page that only changed the city name, will lie politely. We would rather be right on Cooke County paddocks — Big, Frankie’s, CCW, CCE — than publish fifty state URLs.

The satellite photos on the homepage are those paddocks. Woods and home place around them are not pasture. The sensor has to tell them apart. That is the local proof, not a testimonial mill.

Hobby farms and professional outfits in the same counties

A 20-acre homestead west of Gainesville and a bigger rotational outfit in Love County ask the same question: when do I move. The onboarding is personal either way. Feedlots with no paddocks are not a fit. Certified agronomy reports are not what we sell.
